SUPPLY LISTS are suggestions. Please use what works for you and what you might already have or are comfortable with. All supply options will be discussed in class.

IMPORTANT: A sketchbook and pencil or pen for planning and recording your inspirations

Substrates such as canvas, thick cardboard, or foam board, and small boxes, tins, trays, shells, orother 3D surfaces, to be demonstrated.
Papers of all types and textures, stamps, invitations and other meaningful letters for use in the work.
Mixed media may include acrylic paint, oil pastels, paint pens, markers or other embellishments, to be discussed.
Acrylic matte medium or Mod Podge
Small flat brush for applying this medium/adhesive
Xacto knife, scissors and a self-healing mat for cutting

Course Description:

The instructor will demonstrate successful combinations of layered media to inspire your art practice. Create deeper worlds in this true immersion experience for expression and an opportunity to up-cycle collected objects into thoughtful and intentional artwork. All ability levels welcome.

 

Instructor Bio:

 Christy Baker Knight has been teaching naturalist art programs to all ages and abilities for over twenty years including at Blue Heron Nature Preserve and for Georgia Audubon.

A lifelong artist, Christy (Baker) Knight has worked as an Exhibit Designer for Fernbank Museum of Natural History and her illustrations for Field & Studio Productions, Ltd. have been published by Chronicle Books, the Nature Conservancy of Georgia, and the Journal American Rhododendron Society. She’s been awarded prestigious commissions of product design, promotional art and murals by the Humboldt Field Research Institute, the Southeastern Flower Show and the Fulton County Arts Commission.

Christy has exhibited and sold her work nationally in juried shows and galleries, and her meticulous yet lively botanical illustrations are in the collections of many private patrons.  You can visit Christy’s work at fieldandstudio.com.
