Course Description:
This introductory course explores the materials and techniques of oil painting. Students will be guided through the fundamentals of color mixing, mediums, color theory, materials, composition, and various painting techniques in oil. Over the course of six classes, students will create two works, applying the knowledge gained in class. The course will include lectures, demonstrations, studio work (both in and out of class), and group critiques. While creativity is the foundation, honing your technique will elevate your work to a professional level.
